It has been quite a while since the last update..
During the last weeks of my projects and assignment, I needed the time to finish my project properly.
After Christmas and the beginning of the new year, it is time to pick it up again!
There is going to be a change in why and when I am uploading. Since this is the showcase period, I do not have something important or worth while to mention everyday. The creation of the website takes a lot of time, but there is also a lot of repetition. (pasting al the text is not worth mentioning on the blog). So, I am going to upload the things I think are important, i.e when I think of something important during reflections.
I am quite happy with how the project turned out to be. Even though it was chaos in my second half of the project, I managed to get a working prototype and a finished report before the start of the Final Exhibition. Even though, there were (and always will be) things that I wanted to be different/better.
It was quite strange and funny that the first person that visited my project group and myself was the assessor. I did not have the time to test my pitch, as this is something which I fine-tune during the exhibition. Although I am happy with the way the conversation took place. Now that the first impression is delivered, it is time to create my showcase; to show 'em what I've learned!

Project: Details and making!
17-11
This Thursday there was a project meeting again in which we got the advice to make a design document before next Thursday. This includes the 'final concept', with details about the technology, aesthetics and functionality of the design. Actually, this is a pretty good idea of Sam, it puts a bit of pressure on me to get everything on paper.
The group theme was also something we had not yet decided upon, so this is something we also needed to think about asap.
After the meeting, I had planned to begin creating. I started with making a handle for the inside of the plastic bowl I had bought for the midterm exhibition.
I started out with looking at things people hold; bottles, doorhandles and stuff like this. After this, I made some small sketches of how the handles could look. When I was actually making it, I realizes that David Verweij participated in a project about aesthetic deign as a main process, previous semester. So I visited him and talk about the approach he had experienced. This existed of a lot of drawing, sketching and choosing a couple of them to actually make from those sketches and drawings. The planning for the upcoming days was now to sketch, make the design document and finish the handles I already started with.
Here some pictures of the start of the creation.

Detailed Business
04-10
The assignments are almost coming to an end. This semester, only DG505 was on my program. Before it started, we needed to finish the presentation today. Actually, Daniel finished it. He was also presenting today. Looking back, we did a good job. Even though we got the feedback of going to the presentation a bit too fast, I do not think this is a problem, as we did this on purpose. We did assume that the people still knew about our products, while this is not something we can just presume. In the business life, people making the decisions get multiple presentation in a day, so assuming they have absorbed all the information which we gave them is impossible. All the information we presented, was accepted as credible, which of course is the goal of these pitch presentations.
Looking at all the different costs involved in the process of creating and maintaining a business is making me realize why it is so hard to have a business of your own. Making sure the prices are low enough to compete, but high enough to have a wage worth fighting for. Looking at the different processes, how they could be combined to create more value and maybe could be left out, all can have such a big effect on the turn over. I have certainly achieved my goal for this assignment, getting a more 'real' picture of costs and how they influence the decisions which need to be made in the 'life after the education'.
